Mr. Altig’s Overview of the Wonderful Dharma of the Lotus Sutra

Faith, the sage said, is like a lamp that illuminates the path ahead, providing a guiding light in times of darkness and uncertainty. Understanding, on the other hand, is like a map that shows the traveler where they are and where they need to go, providing a clear sense of direction and purpose.

The traveler took the sage’s words to heart and continued on her journey with renewed faith and understanding. At times, the journey was still difficult, but the traveler had faith that the path ahead would lead her to the ultimate truth. With each step, the traveler deepened her understanding of the teachings and gained greater insight into the nature of reality.

Finally, after many years of travel, the traveler arrived at her destination and found the ultimate truth they had been seeking. The traveler realized that her journey had been made possible by the combination of faith and understanding, and that these two qualities were essential for progress on the spiritual path.

The traveler returned to the wise old sage and thanked him for his guidance, realizing that the sage had been a manifestation of the Buddha, who had used skillful means to guide the traveler towards enlightenment. From that day forward, the traveler continued to cultivate both faith and understanding, knowing that they were essential for progress on the spiritual journey.

On a quest to find the truth,
A traveler faced a path uncouth,
Obstacles and challenges she encountered,
Leaving her lost and greatly pondered.

Then she met a sage so wise,
Who offered guidance and advice,
“Have faith and understanding deep,
They’ll lead you to the truth and keep.”

Faith, like a lamp that brightly shines,
Illuminates the path with guiding signs,
Understanding, like a map so clear,
Shows the way and quiets fears.

With renewed faith and understanding,
The traveler continued on demanding,
And even in the darkest night,
She had faith that truth was in sight.

After many years of wandering,
The traveler found the truth so stunning,
And realized that faith and understanding,
Were crucial for enlightenment’s landing.

The wise sage was the Buddha himself,
Using skillful means for spiritual wealth,
From that day on, the traveler knew,
Faith and understanding were forever true.
