Chapter 25b–The Invincible Spells of Bodhisattva Pradanasura

Then, Bodhisattva Pradanasura (known as “Generous Hero) spoke to the Lord: “I, too, will offer protective spells for the benefit of those who preach these teachings. These spells will guard them against any who seek to harm them—be it demons, giants, goblins, sorcerers, imps, or ghosts. None of these entities will find an opportunity to surprise or harm them.”

Immediately, Pradanasura recited the following magical words:

“In gvale and mahāgvale, find your strength,
From ‘ukke mukke,’ let courage be of endless length.

‘Ade adāvati,’ be unstopped, take your stand,
With ‘tritye trityāvati,’ you’ll overcome, you’ll command.

In ‘itini, vitini, kitini,’ let your spirit soar,
‘Tritti trityāvati svāhā,’ be bound by fear no more.”

“These protective spells, Lord, have been approved by as many Buddhas as there are grains of sand in the Ganges River. Any attempt to harm those who uphold these teachings would offend all these Buddhas.”
