THESIS: Our enemies feel like pure obstruction. The critic, the rival, the one who undermines us at every turn.
LOTUS LOGIC: The sutra saves its most shocking prophecy for Devadatta, the villain who tried to kill the Buddha and split the community. In the sutra’s own telling, he was the Buddha’s teacher in a former life, and he is promised buddhahood in a future one. Translation: the person who opposes you hardest may be doing the most for your training.
🌷 The enemy is not the interruption of the path. On the hard days, the enemy IS the path.
🌷 Pressure does not only crush. Applied long enough, it refines.
ACTION: Pick the person who most reliably gets under your skin. Write down one thing their resistance is forcing you to get better at. That is the alchemy.
